I think I may have received a spoof email

Hi,

I received the following email today and I have the feeling it may be a spoof email as I do not recognise the device mentioned and I also use two step verification so would have been alrerted about the purchase.....how can I check that this is truly fake?

I must say if this a spoof email it would be the only one what has nearly caught me out!!

thanks,

Del

It's likely to be a phishing email, Apple Music seems to be a current favourite for them. But to check :

Phishing and similar emails : Phishing & Other Suspicious Emails

Phishing emails : Identifying fraudulent "phishing" email - Apple Support

Genuine iTunes emails : Identifying legitimate emails from the iTunes Store - Apple Support

Viewing your account's purchase history : See your purchase history in the iTunes Store - Apple Support (on an iOS device you can view the last 90 days purchases via http://reportaproblem.apple.com)

If it's a genuine email and it shows on your account's purchase history, and nobody else has access to your account or devices/computers, then contact iTunes Support : https://support.apple.com/contact . And change your account's password http://appleid.apple.com - after changing it : What to do after you change your Apple ID email address or password - Apple Support.

If it is a phishing email you could forward it to Apple : reportphishing@apple.com , and then delete it.

(I've asked the hosts to remove your image as it contains your account id.)

It's fake. A lot of people have received this or variants, including me. If you examine the 'From' address for the actual address (hover over the link or if necessary control-click it) you will see it's not an Apple address. Furthermore it's claimed to belong to 'Megan's iPod' and the amount of money involved is not the cost of an Apple Music subscription. Bin it.
